About Michelle Kistima-Menser
Michelle is a Sydney-based textile artist, designer and screen printer whose work is inspired by the quiet patterns of the natural world. With a Fine Art degree and over 26 years in the textile industry, she brings deep expertise to her creative practice. Michelle works with natural fibres and water-based inks, creating sustainable, handcrafted textiles under her label You Are Brave Textiles. Originally from Cape Town, her bold, high-contrast palette reflects the dramatic landscapes of her childhood in Africa. Her work explores subtle natural forms – seashell markings, tree trunk textures and celebrates their hidden beauty. Michelle teaches fabric printing for all ages, curates exhibitions and eagerly collaborates on bespoke projects that includes embroidery and quilting alongside her printed work. Her hand screen printed range of home textiles and accessories reflect a modern Australian aesthetic and can be found at handmade artisan markets, gallery and design centre shops in Australia as well as the You Are Brave online store.
